High-Quality Foundations
What Is The Purpose Of A Building Foundation?
A building foundation is integral to any structure or property and is the lower part of a building designed to distribute the weight of the new building evenly. Proper foundations installed by professionals are vital to the longevity and structural integrity of your overall project. As well as advising on which foundations are best, specialists can consider other factors such as distance to boundaries, ground conditions soil type, adjacent structures, trees, drains and sewers.
How long does a house foundation last?
When laid by professionals, concrete and slab foundations are known to last a lifetime, from 80-100 years or more.

What types of foundations do most houses have?
We at J&A Landscapes work with all kinds of foundation types, many of which are suitable for several house and outbuilding construction projects.
Concrete slab foundations are one of the most common types of foundation found in modern home buildings. These slabs are generally between four to eight inches in thickness and are reinforced with steel rods and drainage pipes.
Basement foundations are built using a concrete perimeter of pillars to support the above-ground structure. This type of foundation provides additional square footage and space and offers excellent possibilities for future renovations.
Crawl space foundations are constructed upon small, stilt-like structures. Similar to basements, crawl space foundations can provide an additional three or four feet below your property and are often used when soil is difficult to dig through.
Pier foundations are typically used where traditional foundations are difficult to lay. They are constructed using small pads of concrete that are set at strategic points along the outer perimeter of the main house or building.
